He found me

By Gloria Kiconco, :: 14-09-2011

Those of you who know me probably cannot believe you are reading these words.
It is likely you have never heard me talk about my faith. Take this as another example of how God finds us or rather lets us find him even when we run away and try to hide.

Tips on how to avoid being struck by lightning

By Lydia Lakwonyero, :: 13-07-2011

The recent spate of fatal lightening incidents have left several people dead including 18 pupils in Kiryadongo district 135 miles northwest of Kampala. Here are some tips on how to avoid being struck.
l Pay attention to atmospheric changes. If you are on your way somewhere and notice a chance of stormy rains and signs of lightening, abandon the journey.
l Avoid tall structures, such as towers, tall trees, fences, telephone lines and power lines. Lightening strikes the tallest object in the area.
l Stay away from sheds or open shelters. Take cover in full- size buildings, such as houses or businesses. Only take shelter in Hardtop cars like vans and trucks. Do not remain on top of bicycles, or motorcycles. Whether in a building or a car, keep all windows and doors closed.
l If you are isolated in a level field and feel your hair stand on end, it is an indication that lightening is about to strike. Do not lie flat on your stomach. Drop to your knees and bend forward, putting your hands on your knees or crouch on the balls of your feet. This will make you the smallest target possible.
l While inside, avoid anything that conducts electricity and is plugged into a wall socket as these become circuits when lightening travels. Phones, electrical outlets, lights, desktop computers, televisions, stereos, and water faucets  are just some of the items to avoid. Avoid metal door or window frames.

While walking along the road that leads to the university from my former hostel down in Kauga, I suddenly realise that the shortcut that was once there had been blocked. Right in front of me was a newly constructed perimeter wall, with a very beautiful storied house inside- a hostel.

The guild office is a relatively isolated and less visited place especially at the start of every semester. However, as the registration deadline approaches, things change. Students, either in groups or individually, flock the place. The guild president, ministers and MPs are booked in endless appointments. Why? Among other things, students are lobbying for the Guild Scholarship Fund (GSF).

I finally believe that my father loves me

By Zac Tiberindwa, :: 20-01-2011

After three weeks of a really memorable holiday, I had nothing on my lips but songs of praise and honor for my father in Hoima. He is such a great father, the best father that I know in this world. Yet a few years ago I detested him to the core, I hated him with a passion just because I had never bothered to find out who my father was.
