TLM eyes expansion

Seven years on, Touch life ministries (TLM) now eyes expansion not only to all UCU campuses but also other Universities. The youth ministry currently boasts of a fully functional branch at the Mbale campus. And another based in Kampala comprised of members who have left the University-TLM External.

TLM is known for its breathtaking, inspiring concerts every semester in Nkoyoyo hall, well packaged with performances that include; salsa, ballet, hip hop rap and dance, skits. TLM has worked with Young Empowered And Healthy, Uganda Broadcasting corporation, and taken on campaigns for abstinence here on campus. The group is also privileged with leading community worship hours during semesters and participating in mission weeks. TLM also has made it a point to visit secondary schools every semester and occasionally go out on mission upcountry. “Our goal is to impact young people’s lives through music, dance, drama, and evangelism in a bid to win them to Christ. If we can do it here, we can in other campuses and Universities, “says Joshua Menya, who currently heads the ministry. The group that started with five members has grown to approximately over two hundred active members, with more joining each semester. Asked how TLM has managed to grow over the years and keep its members active, Menya says the ministry allows its members to develop their talents through music, dance, and drama. “The variety of activities makes it fun to be in the group; so that it is not just about prayer and fasting. Our goal is to make sure members enjoy themselves. They don’t have to go to disco halls to dance or sing,” says Menya. The group however is no stranger to challenges. “The university chaplaincy especially and the guild have been very supportive. But we still struggle in the area of transport: We want to own a van with time,” says Menya.
