Stella Iwosa of Bachelor of nursing (BNS) has emerged best student after scoring 4.69 at UCU’s 12th graduation part four to be held tomorrow at the Bishop Tucker campus.
“I give the credit to God, because I didn’t aim at being the best student, but I just wanted to utilise the lecturers and students around me. I’ve loved UCU and I’d want to come back for a master’s degree,” said a happy Iwosa.
Iwosa was followed by Apollo Owamazima who graduated with a Bachelor of Business Computing. Owamazima scored a GPA of 4.53.
Other first class students included Ronald Emeru and Barbra Kyobutungi of Bachelor of Procurement and Logistics Management, Zakayo Black Masereka and Justine Mbambu of Bachelor of Nursing Science.
Overall, 438 students are expected to graduate. Of these, 55 receive diplomas, 362 will receive bachelor’s degrees while 21 will receive masters degrees.
In terms of courses, Bachelor of Nursing ranked best producing three of the six first-class graduands.
Statistics further indicate that this time, female students outnumbered the male students, with 242 against 196.
Courses with the highest numbers of graduands are Bachelor of Procurement and Logistics Management with 86 students, followed by Bachelor of Social Work and Social Administration with 43 and Bachelor of Business Administration with 42 students.
Expected to preside over the function is the university vice chancellor, Rev. Dr. John Senyonyi.
Unlike the May and September semester graduations, the commissioning service and graduation ceremonies will be held on the same day.
