Acquiring a degree does not bestow wisdom on you. You can have education, but if it is not paired with with the fear of God, then it is deficient. Those were the words of the Vice Chancellor, Rev. Dr. John Senyonyi, to the new students during their induction service that was held in Nkoyoyo Hall on 22 September.
Giving the biblical example of Solomon, Senyonyi urged the students always consider the fear of God as a guiding principal in their quest for knowledge. He said despite Solomon being very wise, he lost it in the end because he moved away from God towards the end of his life. He urged the students to take Solomon’s case as a learning point. Other people present during the ceremony were Eric Kigozi member of the university council, members of the university cabinet, deans of faculties and other staff members. The induction is the final stage of admission into the university. The induction came after an orientation that had been going on since the beginning of the semester. |
