Guild unveil Noll movie

The students’ Guild government in partnership with Film Club at UCU has championed and released a documentary on the life and time of retiring Vice Chancellor Rev. Prof. Stephen Noll.

The documentary’s first ever screening was at the UCU Library Gardens during a dinner organised by the Students’ Guild of UCU for students to bid fare well to Noll on Saturday night last week.
In an interview with Guild President Rodney Bamusede, the idea of the documentary was hatched to give Noll a lasting impression of how much the students of UCU are indebted to his tremendous service to the students’ through the last decade of his stay at UCU.
“We looked around on how best we would reward Prof. Noll for his service to the students of this institution but we could not find any better way” said Bamusede.
“So we came up with the idea of shooting a documentary on his life at UCU knowing that every thing goes but he will live to watch it and he will never forget” added Bamusede.
Bamusede also said that apart from just documenting Noll’s life, his government’s intention was to create an avenue for students of Mass Communication to gain practical skills in the area of their profession development.
“Other than looking for people from outside to do this, we thought it wise for us to give our very own students the opportunity, and I am amazed by the outcome” exclaimed Bamusede.
In a telephone interview with Noll, he described the students’ own produced documentary on his life as “awesome”.
“It was good, I am glad Mass Communication students are able to transform their class knowledge to practical work, I look forward to taking a copy with me” said a jovial Noll.
The Executive producer of the documentary, Patrick Seruyange said, despite the short notice that the Guild gave the group to shoot the documentary, he was glad that they were able to produce a masterpiece in one week.
“We had a committed and focused group and that is why we were able to carry out the project within the shortest time coupled with support from the Guild” said Seruyange.
However, Seruyange says that their only set back in the course of work, was getting in touch with some people who know Prof. Noll very well and making interview appointments with them yet they had to be in class at the same time.
“There are more people we wanted to meet for interviews as regards to this documentary, but because they kept on postponing appointments and we were working on a deadline, we had to leave them out” added Seruyange.
This is the second practical project the film club has carried out barely two months after its official launch. The documentary follows the recently unveiled Campus Television (CTV)
