Last semester, there were press reports that the university had deregistered 45 State House sponsored students and the question on each person’s mind was: 

A wave of thefts in the last semester suggests that laptop thieves have now moved from just picking laptop computers from easy-to-get places, to breaking into places of residence. 

Being a minister’s son doesn’t make you more Christian than others.  As a child, my parents used to send me to church every Sunday with my grandfather.

We all want space; to have enough room to ourselves. One indelible memory from my student days in Nairobi is the matatus (taxis) and the passenger city bus services. 

Okay, can someone tell me, is there an 11th Commandment that I’m missing? Is it “Thou shalt not wear jeans?”  What if I braid my hair? Is that sin? Will I go to hell? Or to jail? No, not hell. I can’t find that in my Scriptures. Here, you look. But jail? Yes. If I’m Ugandan, anyway, I can be jailed right here at UCU.

A few years ago, it was difficult to find an empty hostel but at the moment, it is very easy. Believe it or not, there is a “hostel crunch” around UCU.

In early 2005 the idea of a newspaper for UCU was conceived by then Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Noll.  After thorough consideration and much consultation, the first official meeting to launch a newspaper was called in March, 2006. 

We will take off our shoes to keep the office clean,” was the unanimous decision.

Being a missionary, Dale Scully has been following God’s call to wherever God would want him to be. Coming to UCU, it was the first time ever in Africa. For now, the Scully family sense that it’s time to continue on another mission, thankful to God for the blessing of having a part of UCU.

UCU FC will have to score at least one goal against Nkumba University FC in the coming home match in order to qualify for the second round play-offs for the Big League. UCU will host Nkumba in a return leg on May 16.
