Take 2012 seriously

By Michael Aboneka LLB II, :: 31-01-2012

 Happy new year UCU community. You all deserve a pat on the back for having crossed over from a very difficult  year. Many people like Gaddafi did not live to see 2012. The year 2011 was that year when some people retreated to the village due to the harsh economic conditions that hit the country, especially the urban areas.

UCU graduates jubilate  I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the Careers and Placement Office of Uganda Christian University for the great work they are doing, most especially concerning the recent Career Week. Ms.Susan Hakiza and her group deserve a “ thank you.” I must say that by the time most of us graduate, we shall not be like graduates from other universities.

Bravo for working on signpost

By Michael Aboneka, :: 29-11-2011

  A few months  back  I had  an issue regarding the university signpost along Jinja-Mukono highway. It was  in bad shape and each time I  used the route as  I came to university, I sank in my seat with shame.
    But today I have all reason to move past it with my head up because it was worked on. I want to thank the university.

Response to Kagiri's letter

By Mary Mills , :: 29-11-2011

  When I read Jackson Kagiri’s heartfelt pleas for help from the chaplain in the October
27 issue of The Standard, I couldn’t help but think of the following words which might help not only Kagiri, but also “the throng among those of us losing their Christian faith.” I, too, have struggled with the questions he raises about “Where is a loving God in the face of so much human suffering” and have been through several trials myself.

Shs10m on guild trip a waste!

By Joshua Serugendo, :: 10-10-2011

 On 19 June this year, the guild parliament debated and approved its budget for 2011-2012. There were many good allocations in the budget. For example the Guild Scholarship Fund was increased and a pool table, plasma TV for Nsibambi Hall, public address system and a projector to enhance entertainment in the dining hall were bought.

Xtianity is UCU’s edge

By Ezra Napoleon Tumuhirwe, :: 10-10-2011

On 15 September, I planned to attend the Community Hour. As I left the office for the fellowship, I was joined by a new lecturer who did not know much about the community programmes. As we walked, I told him where I was going and I was amazed by what he said.

Drop the cheating habit

By JACKSON KAGIRI , :: 10-10-2011

Here at UCU, we come to study. We all start out as equals but some few semesters down the road, due to our choice of friends or preferences, we wake up to the fact that we have been left.

Let's plant more bananas

By Peter Niwagaba, :: 10-10-2011

     When we talk about planting bananas, many people in the university just say, “What an awkward statement?”
    When we talk about eating bananas, most say, “What a great meal?” However, how long shall we eat what we have not planted? People who have lived or visited most areas around the central region can observe wasted banana resources in the bush. Why do we neglect bananas?  They need pruning, thinning, maturing, and mulching.

Welcome to UCU, but take care

By Three Authors, :: 27-09-2011

The most exciting thing on earth is moving to a new environment and place, but this comes hand in hand with visiting the best place in the world.
    It is good to join Uganda Christian University, “a centre of excellence in the heart of Africa.” Believe me, when you have made a life-changing choice.
