Happy new year UCU community. You all deserve a pat on the back for having crossed over from a very difficult year. Many people like Gaddafi did not live to see 2012. The year 2011 was that year when some people retreated to the village due to the harsh economic conditions that hit the country, especially the urban areas.
Whichever problems you have faced, I encourage you to face the future with hope and positivity. Last year had its own challenges. At UCU building Hamu-Mukasa Library was one of the challenges which were overcome. We cannot also deny that there are lessons to learn and where possible change. Let’s work on the weak areas and come out as better people by the time the year ends. As we take on 2012, I feel the following areas need improvement: Firstly here is need for change in the guild government, i.e. putting students' interests first. Secondly, there is the need to realise that we are one family and therefore build trust and unity. Tribalism, nepotism and religious discrimination should be shunned.Like the saying goes, ‘the future is prepared for the prepared ones.’ |
