Christians have been cautioned on using shortcuts in their Christian walk. Rev. Dr. Steven Mungoma the new director of Mbale campus said this while during community hour.
In his sermon: Overcoming temptations as a sign of spiritual growth, Dr. Mungoma said because Abraham took a short-cut in getting a son’ it got him into trouble. “It is because of this shortcut that the Middle East today has no peace,” said Dr. Mungoma. Acknowledging that trials and temptations are part of life on earth, he encouraged Christians to give thanks when faced with such circumstances. Dr. Mungoma assured Christians that there is no place at which they can arrive and say they are mature enough not to go through trials and temptations. “After overcoming one you should be ready to go through an even greater one,” said Dr. Mungoma. Using the example of Jesus’ temptation in the desert, Dr. Mungoma encouraged Christians not to seek to satisfy self but to walk in the will of God. He explained the difference between trials and temptations saying trials are not meant to lead to failure in the Christian walk but to strengthen one’s faith, while temptations are used by Satan to try and destroy God’s children. He said because the devil cannot reach God he attacks the apple of His eye_Christians. He encouraged Christians to love one another.S |
