“To say you are a Christian, you should be so close to the Lord that nothing can
separate you from him. The word Christianity came about because the early Christians did not separate their daily walk with their faith in Christ. They had Christ in them. And that is how it should be for all.” Rev. Milton Tweheyo, the director of students’ affairs was speaking during Community Hour on May 17 at Nkoyoyo Hall. Tweheyo pointed out that it is not enough to be raised in a Christian home, read the Bible, or participate in church activities. He said one can do all these things and still lack a personal relationship with God. “Today we have nominal Christians, church goers who go to worship but in the real sense are not Christians,” Tweheyo affirmed. He blamed the church for not providing proper discipleship to new Christians. Tweheyo said orientation is very important in starting the Christian journey so that young Christians can get to know how to behave like Christians. ‘It is because of this shortcoming that many more Christians make careless mistakes in their walk and end up learning the hard way.” |
