“There are things we chat about all the time. How about gossiping the gospel?” Asked Paul Wasswa, the provincial coordinator of missions and evangelism, Church of Uganda. “The message of Christ needs to be a major theme in what we talk about,” Wasswa explained. He was speaking on 2 August during
Community Worship Hour. Wasswa said while Christians talk about marital problems, sports, and raising children, among other things, they should use it as a platform to chip in the message of Christ. “God himself in the person of the Holy Spirit will remind you of how to gossip the gospel,” he said. He was preaching on the theme, “Making Christ Known.” Wasswa also told Christians that making Christ known begins with a personal encounter with him and then sharing the testimony. “There’s no such thing as second-hand Christianity or past- on from- generation- to- generation -Christianity. You must have a personal encounter with Jesus Christ.” “By simply living a distinctive life, you are making Christ known. People look at you when they won’t read the Bible. They will want to see how you handle stress, pressure and disappointment, moral and financial integrity,” he explained. Wasswa assured Christians that the kingdom of God has an agenda to draw people to Christ. He said it is therefore the responsibility of every Christian to carry the light of the gospel. Wasswa encouraged Christians to love one another . |
