One hundred and thirty international students from Uganda Christian University on 19 November went out for a two-day trip in Mbale.
The team of students lead by the Director of Student Affairs (DOSA), Rev Milton Tweheyo, hiked along the foot Mt Elgon ranges on the Uganda side around Sipi falls. While in Mbale campus, the DOSA was preacher at the community hour, and held consultative meetings with the staff and students. “It’s is one of the best trips we have had. We had enough food, snacks, water, entertainment and travelled around the tourism sites around Mbale,” says Joseph Magazi, a second-year law student from Tanzania, and deputy speaker of the International Students Association. The team that set from the Bishop Tucker Campus Saturday morning, travelled to the UCU Mbale campus where they attended worship and had lunch, before proceeding for mountain hiking on the lower sides of Mt Elgon ranges up to late in the evening. Back at their guest house, they had goat roasting, music and played pool until late in the night. The following morning, they headed for Sipi falls. To finance the trip, the office of the DOSA contributed Sh4.5m, the guild government Sh 3m and Sh15,000 per student. |
