The Vice Chancellor Dr. John Senyonyi, has advised new students to use their freedom well while at university.
In a message given during the induction of first- year students who joined this semester, Dr. Senyonyi said we live at a time when people are free to choose from a number of options, but that they should always be prepared to accept the consequences.
“You are free to make choices without reference to either your parent or teacher, but the Bible tells us that freedom is inseparable from responsibility towards God, others and yourself,” he urged.
He went on: “Freedom is to come home on your own, without being asked or compelled, but out of your own choice. Freedom is to do right even when you are away from home, or those that bare authority over you. Including parents and the university authority.”
Senyonyi said true  freedom is being morally responsible when you walk in the Spirit.
The new students are offering diploma, bachelors and masters programmes in different courses like law, social sciences, child development and children ministry, education, human resource, and community health and entrepreneurship.
In attendance were the Deputy Vice Chancellors for Academic Affairs, Dr Alex Kagume, of Finance and Administration, Dr Florence Sajjabi, and of Development and External Relations, Mr Doug Fountain.
Different deans and heads of department were also present.
During the induction service, ten staff members were awarded cash prices for best teaching practices, while others were recognised for obtaining masters and PhDs since the year began.
