13 get first class at Bishop Barham

Thirteen students graduated with first class degrees at Bishop Barham University College on 1st October. The top three students came from the Department of Social Work and Social Administration while the other ten first class graduates came from Divinity and Education.

  Kyomuhendo Catherine with a GPA of 4.66 emerged the best student and was followed by Ampumuza Patience with a GPA of 4.59. Of the thirteen first class degrees, Divinity had 2, Education had 5 and SWASA had 6.
The graduation ceremony that saw 328 students graduate was presided over by the UCU Chancellor The Most Reverend Henry Luke Orombi. The chancellor who is also  archbishop of Uganda  in his message thanked BBUC for the recent achievements and also urged graduands to live up to the expectations of their alma mater.
 “You are leaving this place as an excellent academic? and, at the same time, an excellent responsible, God-fearing, morally-ethically –spiritually upright young person. As you go into the world of work, please maintain that spirit; live up to the expectations of the world vis-à-vis the graduates of the UCU/BBUC,” he said.
He also appealed for unity at the institution saying this would go a long way in improving the name of the university.
I hereby urge you to be daily engaged in a concerted effort to achieve excellence. Develop yourselves into a very great team. Be excellent in public relations both internal and external. Treat one another with selflessness and with a spirit that pursues excellence,” he added.
 Other key persons present at the function included Executive Director of the Uganda Industrial Research Institute Prof. Charles Kwesiga, VC Rev. Dr. John Senyonyi, College Principle Prof. Muranga  and DVC Academic Affairs Dr. Alex Kagume .
Professor Charles Kwesiga who was Chief Guest hailed the University for the new theme, ‘A complete education for a complete person.’ He appealed to the graduands to act as change agents in the country that he said was riddled with corruption. “You are graduating at a time when our country is at cross-roads. I urge you to shun corrupt tendencies and undo some things that our generation has done,” he said.
