The Vice Chancellor, Dr John Senyonyi, is on a three-week visit to the United States where he will meet different stakeholders and different vice chancellors in Washington.
He began by meeting with the Uganda Christian University Partners Board in Dallas, Texas from 27-31 January.
“Uganda Partners is our US charity arm who have raised much funding, especially for our projects at UCU and scholarship money which has helped many of our students to make it through UCU,” Senyonyi told The Standard last Thursday.
After Dallas, he will proceed to Washington for the 36th Annual Presidents (vice chancellors) Conference organised by the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities, which will take place from 1 to 3 February.
Senyonyi, who is in the company of his wife, Ruth, will then visit their mentors Dr. and Mrs. David Dockery at Union University in Tennessee for four days.
“We also have several other meetings with potential partners in Los Angeles and Virginia. The final stop as we return will be in the UK, to meet with our budding Uganda Partners UK Board members on 13 February,” he explained.
Rev. Dan Button, who was with UCU until last year, is helping us set up the Uganda Partners UK.
UCU was the first university from Africa to take up membership at the CCCU in 2002 under the leadership of the former VC, Prof Stephen Noll.
