After many years of trying to help study centres get to their own feet, MbaleCampus may just be on its way there. After all they are doing more than well in many aspects of what is expected of them.
So far everything is going for them, of course with exception to the land lease from Mbale Diocese which is yet to be ratified; the campus has met more than two thirds of the benchmarks that were set by the university council for the attainment of regional college status. With over 60 employees, and a growing number of students, Mbale has established itself as a model centre from which, if used well, positive challenges can be adopted by future colleges. At this rate of massive expansion and big dreams, the management of Mbale and UCU as a whole ought not to forget that some of the problems that have plagued many of the failed institutions of higher learning in Uganda have been centred on leadership being vested in a single person, having high expectations in a short time and rapidly expanding without due consideration. Luckily, the Mbale case is under the scrutiny of many stake holders and is not following that dark path. God bless you and strengthen your current leaderships and councils. |
