His dream of going to his number one university is now a reality. With 20 points, Keith Busingye will be able to enrol for a Law Degree at Uganda Christian University. “ My father has always told me that UCU is the place I could get the best law degree and I am excited that I will be a student there soon,” said Busingye, son to Mr Godard Busingye, a lecturer at the Law faculty.
Though his performance was a cause for joy, Busingye is not exactly happy with the points that he got. “I put enough efforts in my academics and I was a top student in school. I aimed for 25 points because I knew I could make it,” he said. He however, is convinced that he will graduate with a First Class Degree because of his determination to do well. He attributes his success to his parents, the school director who expected the best of him and his undivided attention to his books. “I have a motto; Give F9 to girls and D1 to books,” he said, adding that he knew that if he got involved in relationships while trying to excel, he would never have exceled. Busingye worked hard for the goal he aimed at. He went to bed at 2:00am every day. He never let sleep get in his way of achieving his goal. There were better students than him in class, whose performance only gave him reason to aim higher. While in primary and O ‘level, he was an average student. He failed to make it to Ntare School after his Primary education. The same happened at senior four when he got a second grade. “This haunted me; I never wanted to be a failure before my siblings,” he said. Later, when he joined Nsambya Hillside for his A’ level, his grades gradually improved. Students who know their family background strive to make it among all odds, he says. |
