Medius Kiconco

When Medius Kiconco was applying at UCU, all she had been told was that its not easy to get a first class in Education. She has risen above the myth and beaten all odds to walk away with a first class. With a GPA of 4.47, Kiconco says it was not enough.

“I aimed higher than that because I wanted to disprove those who say that ladies cannot beat men in class” says Kiconco.
Born 23 years ago in Kabale, Kiconco lost her mum at 3 years and has since been raised by her father and grand parents; a thing she says robbed her of a mother’s love. Its then that life took a twist but her persistent character and focus has brought her this long way.
Kiconco attributes her success to her sponsor Mr. Philliipa Williams who paid for her university education through the Leadership Development Program of Compassion International. Also being the first born in a family of two girls only inspired her to be a role model in the family by not disappointing her dad and friends.
She has been excelling all through her academic life and never repeated any class right from primary. On how she managed to excel, Kiconco proudly says she would never go for leisure before accomplishing the academic tasks at hand.
“ The secret behind my excellence was doing first things first and knowing what I want, that has always been my philosophy of life” says Kiconco as she flashes a beaming smile.
Kiconco is currently on a part time job at Green Hill high school in Kabale and she is poised to do her Masters in Education Management Planning in future and settle down in marriage. Her destiny has been shaped by Mr. Geoffrey Tumwineyo a Compassion staff in Kabale whom she says has motivated her to rise above every circumstance around her.
She attended Makanga Primary school before joining Kabale Trinity College for both levels.
