The Badminton Development Programme league games came to
a halt at 3:20pm on Sunday July 10. This followed a motor accident along Entebbe Road involving Nauraline Nassimbwa, BDP’s public relations boss who doubles as State House JM team player and team-mate Rose, all on Uganda’s Doubles team. After a promising take-off on July 5 and a successful second day when the game between MUBS and Rubaga was in progress, a loud bang caught the attention of the participants. An overspeeding white Toyota Corona, while overtaking a fleet of vehicles, rammed into the back of a blue RAV4 in which Nassimbwa was. This was at the junction to Entebbe Social Hall. The accident left Nassimbwa with a compoud fracture of the right upper-arm and a dislocated shoulder while Rose who was driving, sustained minor cuts. They were rushed to Kataremwa Hospital and later given a referral to Mulago Hospital for intense care. She was later scheduled for an operation which turned out successfull. The games resumed yesterday with a repeat of the postponed matches. |
