UCU Netball clobbers KCC during league

There was a dust-up on the UCU netball court between  Kampala City Council and hosts UCU during the third league game. The hosts disarmed KCC to an eventual 40-21 defeat on Saturday July 9.
Despite KCC’s experience and rough play, UCU led all the four sets. “The game was poorly officiated. There was a lot of foul play which the umpires overlooked and kept on making unrealistic calls against us. This demoralized us and we gave out the game,” said KCC captain, Rita Kyomugisha.
The first set was physical, with KCC minimizing the opponent and dominating half of the set before they went down 11-7 in the dying minutes of the set. KCC came back fully-fledged to cut the lead to three points by half-time.
However, their efforts were nullified by the high endurance levels from UCU, who stretched the lead by nine points and further to 19 points by end of the game.
“The girls played so well as a team. They assisted each other both on defence and offence and were mentally strong,” said coach Nelson Bogere.
