It was an equal strength contest of
54 ups at normal time between JV and Gulu Hawks. The Hawks stretched out their wings to flap out JV on 65-59 during extra time at the Mandela Stadium on Sunday, July 10. The JV team kept Hawks on the chase in the first three quarters to lose grip in the third quarter, so bringing the game to a tie of 54-all at full-time. This pushed the game to extra time in which the Hawks tightened the grip, putting JV’s win at stake. They eventually out smarted the third division champions on 59-54 at the end of play. “We lost because we missed so many free throws and most of our players were injured and could not play to their best,” said captain JV Paul Otto. The team registered a consecutive loss to Rez Life 59-56 on Saturday July 16. The captain explained the lack of consistency in both defence and offence. “We were four points ahead, 1:44min to the end of the game. We played sluggishly and lost the game,” said Otto. |
