Doves dream shut

After relentlessly fighting through the regular season of the Uganda Volleyball Federation League, the Doves dashed their championship hopes.
This is after they lost two straight to Ndejje in the best of three semi-final series on sets of 3-1 each. The games were played at Makerere University Business School on September 11 and 18.
“The best team lost. We failed to receive and capitalise on the advantages we had,” said coach of Doves Tom Amou.
Over time most of the UCU teams have had a sluggish set-off and a fully-fledged perfect finishing but this time the Doves was a cliché. They exhibited a promising start but lost the finishing. In their second last game before they were wiped out, they had enjoyed a two point lead of 24-22 which was put to waste.
From the way they played it was evident they had not trained together as a team gauging coordination in reception and setting.
The Doves are a good team but might have taken things for granted after a tremendous performance during the regular season.  The fact that some of their key players have left the team and that more are yet to leave, means the team is likely to take a little more time to rebuild and become champions in the future.
