UCU netball eyes EA championships

The UCU netball team has qualified to take part in the East African Association Netball Championships set for April next year at Nakivubo Stadium in Uganda.
This is after they emerged fourth in the national league which ended on November 19. The team played its

 last game against KCCA who succumbed to a 56-42 defeat.
“We are a rookie team with a slim bench but we are hungry for this championship,” Nelson Bogere, the team coach said.
The team gathered 16 wins, six losses and a draw in the first and second rounds of the tournament to place them in the fourth slot. The National Insurance Company will face Prisons in a decisive game after both teams lost a game to end up in a tie. Uganda Peoples Defence Forces is third on the table, followed by UCU in fourth position.
The team is preparing for the National University Games which Ndejje University is hosting fromDecember 17 to 22.
“The ladies are bound to play well since they are the only ones who have played in the national league of all the universities in Uganda. This exposure is enough to win the championship,” Charles Okwii, the assistant netball coach, said.
