After emerging champions in the Mukono First Division League, the UCU soccer team is set for the league kick-off late November.
The team has been training hard and has

engaged in a series of friendly matches ahead of this season’s regional league. This being their first-time to play on this level of competition they anticipate a big challenge compared to the first Division league.
“I only have one area of deficiency and that is goalkeeping,” said Mark Twinamasiko, coach of the team.
The team hosted six teams for friendly matches in which they only lost one game.  Seeta Great Stars received a 3-1 beating, Jinja Catholic School 6-1, Luzira Maroons 3-1. The UCU FC lost to Free Stars FC 1-0 all were played at the UCU new pitch between September and mid-November.
UCU will have its first game against Bugerere FC at the UCU old pitch before they clash with Young Simba of Uganda Peoples Defence Forces.
“We are ready for the tournament and most of our players are fit except Fred Kyambade who won’t play the first two matches due to a knee injury,” Twinamasiko said.
