shepherds recieve trophy  The Shepherds are the undisputed champions of the University Rugby League that was concluded on Saturday November 5 at Kampala Rugby Club.
However, the tournament billowed with controversy on the last circuit on November 6, with a tie between Shepherds and Kyambogo 48 points.

This was after the emergency decision by Yayiro Kasasa, the Rugby Union Development official, in which he considered the total points per game over the four circuits played.
After consultations  with the sports administrators of both teams a consensus to call for a playoff rematch was reached.
The Kyambogo team could not field a complete team on this occasion.
“We could not make up the required number because most of our players were still nursing injuries. However, Shepherds is one of the strongest teams in the university category in Uganda and are well facilitated,” Benjamin Odok captain of Kyambogo commented.
The Shepherds ‘A’ versed Shepherds ‘B’ to occasion the university league in the soggy after-rain Kampala Rugby grounds. UCU was declared champions while Kyambogo runners-up. The two teams received each a trophy and 22 medals of gold and silver and Sh. 500,000, 200,000 respectively. Andrew Omoding was named MVP and received Shs100,000 prize money.
Kasasa thanked Western Union  the sponsors of the tournament and also the two teams for coming up strongly to honour the course.
“We want to thank our sponsors for the relentless support and also our eventual winners for the high pitched resilience.  We intend to have the league start in January next year so as to give room for National league,” Kasasa said.
