Praise Demas Richard made an exceptional comeback from injury on by clinching the third overall best time in 800m at the third national trials at Namboole stadium on April 6. Demas was the second in his heat with 1:55:94.

Demas had last participated in a competition during the 2011 university games at Ndejje where he twisted his ankle. His performance drew praise from coach Timothy Kabuye who had challenged him to run two minutes as comeback time.Demas was excited by his first performance from injury.“I performed so well compared to other people who have been training, competing and injury-free. I am looking forward to do better,” he said.Other athletes continued to post fair results to keep Kabuye optimistic amidst challenges of a thin team compounded by injuries.“Our main problem is having a small team. When one is injured, then you have no team (in relays). The athletes are also always overworked,” he remarked.
