ucu against mukono united

Fred Kyambade struck twice 10 minutes inside second half to give UCU a stranglehold over the acclaimed kings of Luweero, Kiwooko United at their home ground on Saturday 21st. The encounter was the first ever in history and in Buganda regional league.

Kyambade put UCU in the lead after the half time interval when he unleashed an unstoppable shot into Kiwooko United net.
Philip Accelan intercepted a defenders shot to set up Kyambade who stroked the ball nonstop past the goal keeper in the 48th minute.
UCU seemed to have realised a weakness with the defenders in the right wing because Seven minutes later, play maker John Kyameze crossed the ball over to Kyambade through the it.
Unmistakably, Kyambade skilfully controlled a perfectly weighed aerial ball from Philip Accelan with his chest before he clipped the ball into back of the net to give UCU a comfortable lead.
After the second goal, UCU took a dominant possession of the game except for intervals of menacing strikes from Kiwooko’s forward Nsereko Lawrence punched above the bar by Francis Okello.
UCU coach Jackson Nyima’s dangerous substitutes Paul Ogallo and Edward Kaziro re-captured the midfield feeding Kyambade and Accelan. The fresh duo from the bench duo turned the game in the favour of visitors.
After a scrappy first half in which neither side managed to get a grip on the game, the contest exploded into life shortly after the restart with UCU playing aerial balls.
The cross balls took Kiwooko out of the midfield action which they had captured in the first half.
Kiwooko had terrific midfield presence in the first half but gave away the game by failing to capitalise on the several chances they had to drive the ball past Okello.
Kiwooko United’s Nsereko had a golden opportunity to put Kiwooko in the lead when he came face to face with goalie Okello but failed to beat him.
“It was a tough game. Kiwooko United is a good team but when we learned their strength was in midfield, we starved them the balls. Kyambade scored good goals and it was a good game for us,” Nyima said after the game.
Nyima was delighted with the win at Kiwooko’s home ground particulary with the substitutes that changed the game .
UCU came through their first test against Kiwooko United with flying colours keeping their hopes of advancing to the big league alive.
