Francis Kabogoza of UCU men’s netball team was the men’s best player in the Mapinduzi Cup in Zanzibar when he travelled with the national team early this January.
Kabogoza scored an incredible 65 goals in just three games and helped the Uganda team to pocket silver in the tournament. He won the accolade for the individual star performance. “I was happy to be the best player of the tournament and I thank God. I worked hard to ensure my team gets a medal,” he said. Kabogoza is a prolific goal scorer who can get them from quite unlikely angles . With his eye on UCU’s great sports future, Kabogoza’s utmost desire is for men’s netball to grow in UCU and the University club to get to the top at national and international level. “In every game I play, I do not want my team to lose. So I have to work hard,” he said with a tinge of passion in his voice. He helped the newlyformed UCU win the national netball league last November. Meanwhile by press time, Lady Canons guard Maureen Amoding was highly billed to win the 2011’s MVP award for the second time in the MTN-Fuba league in which she was simply spectacular. |
