Lady Doves live up to promise of great results

The Lady Doves have lived up to the promise of improving their game by bagging the winners’ trophy in institutions as well as the first runners-up trophy of the clubs ategory in the KIU Open on March 25. They erased the hosts, KIU 3-0 and Nkumba University 3-0 to claim the institutions championship.
The contest only heated up in the semi-finals when they met Nkumba again.
The semi-final tense encounter was doubled in the finals against KAVC.
It was clearly visible that the Lady Doves were tired in their tie against the determined KAVC ladies who won 3-0.
“Our problem was lack of endurance. Endurance is what keeps you in the game. When you are tired, you cannot move to cover up even when you call the person,” the Lady Doves coach Protus Soyita said.
Meanwhile, the Doves are still failing to pick up strongly, having finished runners-up in the institutions category. They lost a spirited battle against Nkumba 28-26, 25-18 in the quarterfinals of the clubs category. The coach Nason Bwesigye appreciates that the new team will take some time for it to work together. “We are fighting hard to become a team. But our training is still inadequate. I rarely have all players in a training session because of evening classes. Furthermore, we are required to train for only three days,” he remarked after the game.
Half of the Doves team are starters and have been struggling with teamwork.
