After the heavy rainstorm that Uganda Christian University saw on Thursday, 08 November, the Most Rev. Henry Luke Orombi returned on Tuesday, 13 November to give his last words to the UCU community. He has been visiting all over Uganda in preparation for his retirement as Archbishop of the Church of Uganda and Chancellor of Uganda Christian University.
In his sermon, he encouraged students to recognize the God given resources that fall in African countries, especially Uganda, and use them to bring about development and transformation in the country. “We pray that when the corrupt are phased out, the incorrupt will rise up” he said. It is the responsibility of the young generation to follow God’s instructions and he will bless us in return. Archbishop Orombi recognized UCU as one particular university that God has his eyes on. And although God has richly blessed it in the previous years, he shall bless it even more if only the UCU community chooses not to deviate but walk straight to their destiny.
Orombi also encouraged love and unity among Christians. “The Lord needs all Christians to work together, live together and love one another as Christians because we all serve the same God and have the same destiny.” he remarked.
Rt. Rev. Stanley Ntagali shall succeed the Most Rev. Orombi as Chancellor of UCU and Archbishop of the Church of Uganda. He will be consecrated as the Archbishop on 16 December, 2012 at Namirembe. UCU’s Rev. Canon George Kasangaki shall in turn succeed Bishop Ntagali as the Bishop of Masindi-Kitara Diocese and he will be consencrated on the 25 November in Masindi.
