Academics at UCU
The Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (DVC AA) is the senior member of the University staff and acts for the Vice Chancellor in his absence.
The DVC AA has administrative oversight and responsibility for coordination of planning, policy, development, assessment and overall management of academic affairs at the faculties, campuses and departments of the University.
He is in charge of all the deans and directors at the University. The DVC AA has primary responsibility for all academic divisions and programs. He is also the secretary to the University Senate, the body that has oversight over all the University programmes.
The academic programmes are implemented through faculties or schools, each headed by a dean.
The faculties are:

- Science and Technology
- Social Sciences
- School of Research and Post Graduate Studies
Campuses:
- Uganda Christian University Mbale Campus (E Uganda - Mbale)
- Uganda Christian University Arua Campus (NW Uganda - Arua)
- Bishop Barham University College (SW Uganda- Kabale)
The University includes traditional day and evening academic programmes as well as several modular and recess programmes.
The University operates with three regular semesters per calendar year (September-December, January-April, and May-August) and schedules programmes for two of the three for effective use of facilities (averaging out to 6000 students at the main campus each semester). Modular programmes meet periodically according to their programme design.
