Mission for Civic Awareness and Health (MICAH)
The Mission for Civic Awareness and Health (MICAH) continues in its 5th year as students have partnered with communities in two more districts. They carry out education campaigns, working with local leaders and households to improve life skills and health and sanitation practices.
MICAH is a students' initiative that does their internship directly with the community. It is made up of students from social work and social development, development studies, and public administration from first to third year at Uganda Christian University. Students from other programs have also shown interest.
While in the field, the groups together with the help of the local authorities, do community work majorly in the health and development areas. This done through community meetings / sensitization, focus group discussions, door to door outreach, worship places and school among other.
These teams help local communities in bettering their lives through better nutrition, hygiene, maternal and child health, sanitation and water hygiene. They also address issues of health/diseases, agriculture and the environment.
