Tucker School Departments

  • The General Studies Department was established as a coordinating department to oversee management and teaching of the Core Courses of the University.

Core Courses are required by all faculties, and are designed to build foundations for Christian life and to provide necessary practical skills which cut across all academic disciplines.

The concept of core courses is based on a philosophy of education which is holistic, viewing education not simply as the procurement of job skills, but of life skills: spiritual, relational, practical, and cross-disciplinary.

The Core Courses provide both a practical foundation for academic development, and a Christian moral foundation enabling students to apply their knowledge to all areas of life with integrity, purpose, wisdom, and discernment.

  • Child Development and Children Ministry

Over 56% of Uganda's 31.8million population is below 18 years (Uganda Bureau of Statistics, 2009).The challenge is most of the people employed to work with them do not have the relevant skills to address their dynamic and complex needs. The department runs the Bachelor of Child Development & Children Ministry program to produced professional children workers.

This program is uniquely inter-disciplinary, involving elements of child development, theology, social work, development, counseling, health sciences, and law.
