Faculty awarded for excellence

Dr Sarah Kizza, Faculty of Science and Technology, receives her prize from Vice Chancellor Dr. John SenyonyiUganda Christian University has awarded 10 teachers for their contribution to teaching at the University. Out of the 29 academic staff, 10 emerged successful and will receive the UCU Award for Excellence in Teaching for the year 2011.

For the evaluation period 2011, the committee rolled out nomination forms to the faculties on 21st November 2011 for academic staff who were interested in competing for this award to fill out.

A total of 69 academic staff from the 6 faculties were nominated for this award. The staff members that were nominated were then requested to fill out a form by Tuesday, 29th November 2011 in which details of their academic achievements would be provided. 29 academic staff submitted their particulars in time.

The students' evaluation which was conducted by the academic office between 14th – 25th November 2011. This was followed by the Peer Evaluation and Supervisor’s Evaluation from 5th – 9th December 2011.

One of the goals in the University strategic plan is to reward and promote high quality teachers at Uganda Christian University with the overall aim of motivating teaching staff, promoting role modeling and also honoring those academic staff members that have shown competence and enthusiasm in promoting student knowledge and supervision.

Each year, the UCU will seek to recognize three excellent teaching staff in each faculty.
