Holistic Experience
The UCU “experience” includes a balance of spiritual and social activities that help form an identifiable and unique character of our graduates.
Foundation Studies
To establish a strong Christian identity. The University established compulsory “Foundation Studies” courses in Old Testament, New Testament, Ethics, and World Views. The University also added required courses in Health and Wholeness, Mathematics, Writing and Study Skills and Basic Computing.
Worship
Worship is lively at Uganda Christian University. Almost every day there are services ranging from lively community worship to traditional worship. Bible studies, expositions, and mission weeks are common place.
Student Leadership
The Student Guild is the government of students and its elected leaders advocate for students and help organize activities. Over 50 student clubs and associations are registered through the Guild which moderates and oversees their programmes.
Residence Life
Residence life has grown particularly as parents and students alike seek quality and safe housing. Over 1000 students reside on campus in dormitories, and another 500 stay in affiliated hostels off campus. All first year students are required to stay on campus or in off campus hostels.
Newspaper
A unique and uniting feature of the University is The Standard, a University newspaper published fortnightly. Uganda Christian University is the only University in the region to have such a service.
Sports
Sports plays an important part in the life of Uganda Christian University. Men and women basketball teams have gained national reputation, as have rugby, volleyball, and of course football (soccer).
